Israel State Archives Launches New Initiative to Acquaint the Public with its Treasures
A great news for the Israeli public at large and the Jewish people around the globe.
The Israel State Archives is proud to present “Documentation on the Web”, a new initiative for acquainting the public with its treasures. The Archives has approximately 400 million items, including documents, maps, stamps, audio tapes, video, special photographs and special publications. Under the initiative, every few days an item will be posted on the Archives website, accompanied by a brief explanation (in Hebrew).
In the first stage of the project, items from the 2005 memorial book for Yitzhak Rabin will be posted, including personal letters, military documents, photographs and a selection of his remarks to the IDF General Staff and the Cabinet. Later, documents, photographs and film clips from a range of issues, which show the broad spectrum of materials at the Archives, will be posted.
