The Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael is Distributing Christmas Trees!
Christmas is five days from today and The Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael (KKL) – Jewish National Fund (JNF) is distributing, once again, Christmas Trees to local churches, monasteries, convents, embassies, foreign journalists and the general public.
In the central region, KKL-JNF foresters is distributing trees in the cedar grove adjacent to the KKL-JNF offices in Givat Yishayahu. Distribution is taking place since yesterday December 19th, from 8.30 until 16.00. Tomorrow as well, the Jerusalem Municipality will distribute free Christmas trees to its Christian residents.
The Distribution is taking place in central and northern Israel, according to lists provided by the Ministry of the Interior, the Municipality of Jerusalem and other bodies. Private individuals can buy a tree for a small amount of 70 NIS.
Taking into consideration the Israeli weather, KKL-JNF foresters grow Arizona Cedars, which are best suited to serve as attractive Christmas trees. KKL-JNF foresters grow plots of Arizona cedars in a variety of forests in northern Israel. As Christmas approaches, the foresters thin out the crowded woodland and sell the trees to the general public. On the one hand, this prevents illegal felling of the trees and on the other, allows people to enjoy the presence of a festive Christmas tree.
